Cliodhna grew up on a farm in rural Galway, Ireland, as the youngest of seven. She started her rugby career playing Gaelic football until being recruited into rugby in her 20s at university and never looked back. She now lives in Devon, playing for Exeter Chiefs and Ireland.
Moloney made her international debut for Ireland in 2015 against England at Twickenham Stoop in London and afterwards was selected to play for Ireland in the 2015 Women's Six Nations.
In 2017, she was a part of Ireland's 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup campaign, hosted in Ireland, and was a part of the promotion for the tournament at University College Dublin, where the group games were to be held.
After Ireland's disappointing form in the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup, she joined Wasps in 2018 to play in the Premier 15s, but sadly missed most of her first season in England due to shoulder surgery.
In 2020, she was Player of the Match in the 2020 Women's Six Nations game against Wales and ended the season as Rugby Players Ireland 2020 Women's Player of the Year.
Since arriving in Devon, she has settled well to life with the Chiefs, providing another experienced head to the much-talked about Exeter pack, earning her call-up to the Ireland Six Nations squad in April 2024. She loves the outdoors, animals and exploring her surroundings, as well as beach barbecues, gardening and seaside saunas and swims.
