This Privacy Notice for Contested Inc (doing business as Contested) ("we," "us," or "our"), describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our services ("Services"), including when you:
- Visit our website at https://contested.com or any website of ours that links to this Privacy Notice.
- Download and use our mobile application (Contested), our Facebook application (Contested), or any other application of ours that links to this Privacy Notice.
- Engage with us in other related ways, including any sales, marketing, or events.
Contested ("Contested," "we," "us," or "our") is a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that streamlines and safeguards sponsorship relationships between athletes and businesses. We provide a single environment where athletes, brands, universities, and third-party partners can discover one another, structure compliant campaigns, and measure outcomes.
Onboarding and Verification
Athlete onboarding includes identity verification, eligibility checks, social-media account linking, and profile creation that captures athletic achievements, audience analytics, and partnership preferences. Business onboarding includes collection and validation of business credentials, marketing objectives, product category restrictions, and budget parameters. University and compliance access may include optional portals that allow compliance officers to review and approve opportunities before execution.
AI-Powered Matching
A dual-tower architecture with natural-language and numeric feature analysis compares hundreds of qualitative and quantitative data points, including audience overlap, content style, brand values, and performance metrics, to generate compatibility scores. Brands receive intelligently ranked athlete cohorts instead of manual search results, reducing bias and expanding opportunity across under-represented sports.
Campaign Management Workflow
End-to-end tools help draft briefs, set deliverables, negotiate terms, execute e-sign agreements, and create timelines. Funds are routed to a designated payment account and released to athletes only after deliverables are completed and approved. Built-in content scheduling lets athletes queue posts across TikTok, Instagram, X, and other networks through secure third-party API integrations.
Compliance and Risk Controls
Contested uses automated policy checks for prohibited industries, offensive content, and disqualifying conduct. Audit logs retain immutable records of messages, agreements, and changes for institutional review. University-specific overrides are intended to ensure collegiate rules supersede commercial terms where required.
Performance Analytics and Reporting
Real-time dashboards measure reach, engagement, conversion events, and return on ad spend. Aggregated insights help brands optimize creative, spending, and athlete selection, while athletes can track earnings and audience growth.
Payment Processing and Tax Documentation
Integrated payment workflows support escrow, milestone releases, refunds, and automated 1099 issuance. Fee structures are communicated to users during onboarding and within each contract.
Customer Success and Optional Managed Services
Contested provides support for technical issues, dispute resolution, and best-practice guidance. White-glove campaign planning and creative services may be available for enterprise clients.
Contested delivers its services through a secure web application and companion mobile interfaces. To operate these services, we collect and process information supplied by users, data from connected social-media accounts, transaction data from payment providers, usage data generated by interaction with our Platform, and information received from publicly available sources or third-party partners. Detailed explanations of what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have are provided in the remaining sections of this Privacy Policy.
